International Development
At the University of Edinburgh I led the development and launch of a new globally-focused MSc Course in Environment and Development and dedicated module in International Development. This course was very popular with students (over 30 students per annum) whilst the international development module attracted students from a range of additional courses with total students numbers exceeding 50 per annum. The course and module were focused on enhancing employability providing skills, knowledge and examples derived from my own research and global development practice.
Global Challenges
I was the inaugural holder of the UNESCO Chair in International Development at the University of Edinburgh. This award under UNESCO’s UNITWIN programme launched an initiative designed to build a global network linking higher education and research to address global challenges with emphasis on empowering society in developing countries to build more sustainable and inclusive development.

Transnational Education
As Deputy-Pro-Vice-Chancellor Global Engagement at the University of Leicester I held responsibility for setting the strategic direction for the University’s Transnational Education (TNE).
