ESPA (2010-16)

The ESPA programme focused on how innovation in terms of “new things or ways of doing something” could enhance the quality of research produced by the programme and its application to deliver development impact.

ESPA innovated in three broad areas:

  • Innovation in research
  • Innovation in the way that research was implemented and funded
  • Innovation in the development impact by turning research into results.
Local community in Zambia innovating ways of producing soap commercially from Jatropha seeds.
