The income status of countries are updated annually using data collated by the World Bank with an annual estimate of per capita Gross National Income (GNI) using the World Bank’s Atlas method stated as US$ equivalents.
Lower middle-income countries
The 2022 assessment lists lower middle-income countries as having a per capita GNI of between $1,086 and $4,255.
Upper middle-income countries
The 2022 assessment lists upper middle-income countries as having a per capita GNI of between $4,256 and $13,205.
