Research Strategy

Ecosystem Services for Poverty Alleviation Programme

The ESPA programme produced its first Knowledge Strategy in 2010 and these were updated annually up to the 2013 Knowledge Strategy . This period covered the commissioning on ESPA’s most significant research investments. From 2014 onwards, more emphasis was placed on updating on ESPA’s Impact Strategy as the programme placed more emphasis on building results and impact.

The Strategy was used to provide a conceptual framing for ESPA’s research and the interdisciplinary approaches the programme was developing.

The independent mid-term review of the ESPA programme conducted in 2014 highlighted some of the benefits of ESPA’s strategy documents in terms of providing focus to the programme and guidance to project teams

University of Leicester

At the University of Leicester, I developed a GCRF Strategy that was assessed as exemplary by Research England. This in turn is influencing the research theme of the University’s new Strategic Plan in 2020.

Leicester’s activities on monitoring and evaluation, based on a theory of change will contribute to the way that the University collects and communicates evidence of success under both the GCRF Strategy and University Strategic Plan.
