Enhancing Institutional Reputation

An important responsibility for leadership roles in both education and research is to enhance and protect reputation. Examples of this come from the roles undertaken at ESPA and the University of Leicester.

Results
  • The University of Leicester being ranked #1 in the world in the 2020 Times Higher Education Impact rankings for its contribution to SDG 15, “Life on Land”. The University was ranked 5th in the United Kingdom for overall contribution to the SDGs (21st globally).
  • Building the reputation of the ESPA programme such that the programme was recognised as being a global leader in research linking environment and development. This covered:
    – The quality and innovation of ESPA’s interdisciplinary research
    – The results the research produced and the impact it generated
    – The way that the programme developed more equitable partnerships and empowered developing country partners.
  • Promoting the University of Leicester as a partner of choice for international education, research and enterprise partnerships
  • Contributing to the enhancement of the in University of Leicester’s global rankings. This included
    – The contribution of the University’s internation profile to rankings
    – The relatively high citation rate for research conduction in global partnership.
